Orlando Rising Premier Draws Crowd

On Tuesday, February 18, Florida Technology Journal and FilmScape Productions screened Orlando Rising, a film about Orlando’s digital technology industry, to a crowd of over 500 people.

The event was held at Full Sail Live and included an introduction by Full Sail President Gary Jones, taped greetings from Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, and an industry panel.

The 45- minute film was created in an effort to draw attention to recent growth in the Orlando technology community. Interviewees included Bob Allen, Chief Storyteller at IDEAS; Daryl Holt, Vice President and General Manager of EA Sports; UCF President John Hitt; both mayors; and about a dozen other thought leaders in the Orlando tech industry.

“Orlando Rising highlights the collaboration between business, civic and educational partners that has contributed to growth of the local digital technology community. It also provides an overview of a number of tech projects in the Orlando area, including Creative Village, Lake Nona, OrlandoiX, IndieNomicon, Starter Studio, and the Canvs coworking space,” said FilmScape’s Eddie Bradley.

“We hope that by promoting these projects more people will want to get involved in supporting what’s happening locally. What we learned in making this film is that it’s important for everyone to work together to drive progress. We’re well on our way.”

Florida Technology Journal and FilmScape are currently revising the film for broader release. The team plans to make it available to city leadership and other areas across the state that are interested in learning more about Orlando efforts.
