Orlando Tech Meetup Moves To Cheyenne Saloon

This month’s Orlando Tech Meetup will be held Thursday, February 27th at Cheyenne Saloon. This is the first time the event has been held at this location, though the venue has been used for other tech events in the past, including the first Starter Studio Demo Day in November.

Cheyenne Saloon is positioned across Church Street from the Exchange building, future home of the Canvs coworking space and PlanSource. Efforts to turn the area into a tech hub extend to the Saloon, which has a stage for presentations, several bars, and seating for several hundred people.

Even so, the Tech Meetup move isn’t permanent. Organizers are scheduling the event on a month-to-month basis, depending on availability of space. The common area at Envy Labs has provided a home for the event in the past, but according to organizers, they need a larger area.

“For the last year, the Orlando Tech Meetup has constantly struggled with having enough seats for the attendees. It’s hard to find good venues around Downtown Orlando that facilitate this type of group. The Saloon works for this event perfectly for 2 main reasons: 1. It’s got tons of space for the pre and post event networking, 2. It’s got a big stage that helps the attendees focus on the demos while they’re happening. Those are the two main things we’re looking for in a good venue,” says organizer Robb Schiller.

The event is typically held on the third Thursday of the month, but was moved because of availability of the location. Robb expects that the event will return to its usual position on the calendar next month.

Orlando Tech Meetup is a monthly event open to anyone in the community with an interest in technology. During the event, 5 local tech companies are given approximately 3 minutes to pitch their products and/or services to the room and receive questions and feedback.

This month’s event will include pitches from Modernmeal, LateShipment, Inteverit, Numberster, and TaskAssure. For more information about each company, and to RSVP for the event, visit the Meetup page.
