One Million Cups Moves to Rollins College
The Orlando chapter of One Million Cups, the weekly event at which local entrepreneurs can pitch their startups to a well-caffeinated group of mentors, entrepreneurs, and interested community members, is moving to the Rollins College Bush Auditorium. The move is a result of the event once again outgrowing its meeting space.
One Million Cups has been held at East End Market in Audubon Park for the past few months. The audience has been growing steadily since the Orlando chapter was founded last September, which has made finding the right location a challenge. The event was originally held at Envy Labs downtown.
The move to the Bush Auditorium will give the group room to grow. The auditorium seats up to 300 people. It also has the benefit of being in a central location, near Park Avenue in Winter Park. The same space was recently host to another community event- Startup Weekend- which was held in the auditorium and other rooms in the Bush Science Center.
“We have seen tremendous growth, and are elated to see how connections, businesses, and ideas have sprouted from this event,” says One Million Cups organizer Ron Ben Zeev.
According to Ron, the new location at Rollins College is good for several reasons. In addition to providing more space, Rollins is well-known for its MBA program. The college provides resources to the broader entrepreneur community, including events designed to support early stage businesses (see recent article), venues, and a supportive environment for startups.
One Million Cups is held every Wednesday at 9am. For more information, visit the One Million Cups website and the local chapter’s Facebook page.
