Orlando Tech Association Announces Tech Week, a Week- Long Showcase of Orlando’s Technology Community

The Orlando Tech Association, along with over a dozen community partners, has begun planning for Tech Week, a collection of events hosted by organizations and businesses from across Orlando’s technology industry. Partners range from the Orlando Science Center to local grassroots Meetup groups, and topics include programming; big data; space technology; gaming; laser and photonics; STEM education; medical technology; simulation; and tech business development, among others.

The week will feature a number of anchor events, beginning with BarCamp on Saturday, followed by iSummit on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday night the Orlando EDC will host its revamped Schwartz Awards honoring Central Florida tech professionals. A tech-themed 1 Million Cups will take place on Wednesday morning, and on Wednesday night Canvs will host a signature Speaker Series event. Thursday night is Orlando Tech’s Tech Meetup, and on Friday night IndieNomicon will occupy the Church Street Exchange for a special themed event. Throughout the week Meetup events will be held at Envy Labs/ Starter Studio and the Church Street Exchange building.

“We want to pack these seven days with tech-themed events, parties, workshops, and activity. We have a thriving tech community, and we hope Tech Week will bring people working in different areas of tech together for a week-long celebration of what we’re doing and where we’re going,” said Orlando Tech Executive Director Orrett Davis.

Additional events will be added over the course of the next few months, and a full calendar made available on the Orlando Tech website. Anyone interested in getting involved as an event host, sponsor, or volunteer can contact Orlando Tech.
