Canvs to Celebrate 1 Year Anniversary
Downtown Orlando coworking space, Canvs, is throwing a one year anniversary party on Thursday, August 27, from 4p.m. to 7p.m. inside the Church Street Exchange. The coworking space was envisioned to help support Orlando’s startup community, and to foster entrepreneurship in the region. Mayor Buddy Dyer will share a few words during the event, with over 300 other government, technology, and business leaders in attendance.
A full year old, Canvs is now home to over 150 members comprising more than 75 companies, and growing. The Orlando Business Journal recently reported Canvs’ plan to expand their already 17,000 square foot space into an additional 3,200 square foot space on the third floor of the Exchange building, as early as the end of the year.
“I feel privileged to be a part of the team helping Canvs to reach this milestone. The founders and original leadership team can be justifiably proud of what Canvs is today,” said Executive Director of Canvs, Donna Mackenzie. “I am equally if not more proud of what Canvs represents as part of a growing ecosystem for technology entrepreneurs in Central Florida. Because of the region’s growing reputation as a center for highly skilled workers, a booming technology cluster and a business friendly climate, we now have companies coming from out-of-state and selecting Canvs as their launch pad in the region.”
Tickets to the event are $40, and can be purchased here. Part of the ticket proceeds will go to FireSpring Fund, a recently launched nonprofit evergreen seed fund that will provide funds to promising technology startups to help them grow and scale their businesses. Event sponsors include Filmscape Productions, Gifn, Greenberg Traurig, Highwoods Properties, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Viewpost, and Virtual Operations. Canvs has partnered with the Downtown Orlando Partnership in all aspects of developing the event which is expected to have more than 300 attendees.
