Augmented Raises $3 Million Dollars
This month is off to a great start for Augment who just raised over $3 million dollars from Salesforce Ventures to continue expanding their company operations. Augment, a Paris-based reality startup that planted its roots here, in Orlando, last summer. Since their launch in October 2011, they’ve received $4.7 million dollars.
They’ve designed an augmented reality mobile application that allows businesses to simulate their 3D models in real world, real size and real time. They allow sales and marketing teams to take their pitches to the next level and everyday customers to see innovative technology through an app. They have a huge list of clients that include, Coca-Cola Germany, Samsung, Siemens and L’Oréal among others.
Augment is one of 150 companies in the Salesforce Ventures portfolio. Salesforce Ventures is a corporate investment group that invest in cloud based enterprise companies.
Augment was one of the five companies who demoed at our July Orlando Tech Meetup. The Orlando location for Augment has grown to a team of four and COO Mickaël Jordan, who is hoping to expand the local team with this new round of funding. He told us the key for companies who are just starting out is to find the right sales people from the start.
“To be honest I was concerned that I would not find proper local talents with experience in software sales, but Orlando has a rich ecosystem of software companies and the people working at these companies have an entrepreneurial spirit and are willing to take the risk to join a startup,” said Jordan.
He suggests building relationships with local schools and colleges from the start, which allowed him to recruit from Rollins College for his Sales Development Position. Jordan said, “I’m confident that we will find all the right people we need to grow a strong team here in Orlando.”
We asked Jordan what this $3 million dollar infusion of cash means for their Orlando location and their plans to expand.
“Orlando is our hub to handle North American Inbound Sales, so we plan to expand the team aggressively and will probably have around 20 employees here by the end of the year,” said Jordan.
We look forward to seeing Augment continue to grow here in Orlando and seeing what this next year has in store for them.
